This defense drill is focused on players starting position of defense and not leaning as this can make it extremely difficult to change directions. This is a simple drill where the coach hits 3 balls, two balls for the blockers and 1 ball for the defender behind the block. The hits to the defender start originally as a line or cut shot but are modified over time. Also the blocking position is changed from line to angle and the number of hits the coach can hit is increased as the drill progresses.
This is another great warm up drill which focuses on covering the hitter as well as lifting the ball after you cover the hit and getting back and ready to spike. This drill works on allot of beach skills that are often ignored but by doing it during the warm up it allows the players to work on skills while building into their hitting.
This is a great warm up setting drill with Jason Lockhead, AVP and FIVB Player / Coach. This drill is designed for high level volleyball players but can be modified to make it easier or harder and you see how Jason does this, making the drill much harder as the players progress through it.
If so, check out Krossover. They’ll breakdown, stat-out and completely tag your matches so you don’t have to. Imagine never having to clip or stat any of your matches, or having to hire an assistant for film review. Simply upload your film to Krossover and let them break it down for you, like your own personal, virtual video coordinator. Krossover is the economical solution for film analysis and statistics, and lets you and your players focus on your game, not adding stats to it.
As coaches we can be stubborn, we like to run the same rotations in tight situations, we like to rely on the same hitter when we need a quick point, and we tend to stick to a very specific routine. Why? Because it works. Why? Because if it’s not broken why fix it right? Wrong. Which is why our program upgraded it’s process in the film room, all with the help of Krossover.
This is an incredibly fun and challenging beach volleyball drill that will warm up players, improve skills, improve team communication and finally get players heads in the game of volleyball. The drill felt next too impossible when it started but by the time it finished all 4 players were juiced and excited for what was an incredible practice to follow which only built on this great first drill to start!
This is day 2 / practice 2 of volleyball coaching nightmares. In this practice Andor Gyulai takes over practice and tries to teach the coach (Kerri Eich) important volleyball coaching concepts that she can use when coaching the team. Also where needed Andor sets a tone of how practice should be run and how the players should behave.
This video features Andor teaching and running the his Omaha Pressure Serving Volleyball Drill. This drill is designed for all skill levels and will help teach your team to serve aggressively under pressure. On top of this the drill does a great job of building team unity. The drill should be run once or twice in practice and can be used to raise the energy of practice plus have some fun!
This video features Andor taking most of the team except liberos through a blocking trips drill. This drill is just flat out ugly, because the players have never run it nor have they effectively been taught how to block. Yet in cases like this it is important to struggle thought the drill so the players can get better. This is what Andor does with Kerri and the team.
This post continues with the serving and passing drill on one court with the outsides, opposites and liberos and on the other court the middles and setters continue to work on teaching the middles movement patterns and how to spike successfully out of the middle hitter position. This drill offers a progression for the middles from the previous videos series.
