Volleyball Characteristics

There are Two Types of Volleyballs

Indoor Volleyballs-designed for indoor play such as club volleyball or high school volleyball

Indoor volleyballs are more often than not solid white in coloration (but they can sometimes be bi-colored or tri-colored) and come in two different sizes

  • Youth Size- smaller and lighter for children to easily manipulate
  • Standard Size- Professional size and weight for adults

Beach volleyballs- Beach volleyballs are designed for outdoor and beach and sand volleyball

Beach volleyballs may be brightly colored and slightly larger than standard indoor volleyballs. Beach volleyballs also tend to have a rougher external texture and are kept at a lower pressure of inflation than that of indoor volleyballs.
