In the game of volleyball great defense (digging) wins championships and in my case I was lucky enough to put it all together and win the ultimate prize, gold in Australia. One reason I was able to accomplish this was that I was fortunate in that, growing up in Southern California, the Mecca of volleyball, I had the opportunity from a young age to personally study some of the greatest defensive volleyball players ever. Players like Tim Hovland, Ron Von Hagen, Sinjin Smith, Randy Stoklos, Adam Johnson, Brent Frohoff, Mike Dodd, Karch Kiraly, Kent Steffes, to name just a few!

In studying, being coached, and playing with these greats I was able to pick up and learn their best defense tips, tools, drills and resources. In this brief video set I’ll be able to give you the cumulative knowledge of these living volleyball legends. Defense like all other volleyball skills is where with a bit of work and some drills anyone can frustrate any opponent and dig everything.

In order to train for beach volleyball defense as a player or coach, digging requires good footwork, efficiency and anticipation. My beach volleyball video technique, training and drill series will show you methods I have developed and learned playing at the highest level to help you maybe one day become an Olympic gold medalist.
