Volleyball Spandex Asics Women’s Low Cut Short Review

Today’s item we have been reviewing will be the Asics women’s lowcut volleyball spandex short. The low cut of the waist band is mainly for comfort. Traditional shorts have a high waist band that produces additional pressure on the stomach and lower abdomen. By rolling down the waist band much more pressure is created by the extra material gathered on a lower part of the body. All of this is solved by the low cut style.

Today’s item we’re reviewing is the Asics women’s lowcut volleyball spandex short. The low cut of the waist band is generally for comfort. Regular shorts have a high waist band that produces additional pressure on the stomach and lower abdomen. By rolling down the waist band much more pressure is produced by the extra material gathered on a lower part of the body. All of this is solved by the low cut style.

Much more comfort is given with a gusset through the crotch for improved freedom of movement.  Seams are flat stiched permitting the short to slide easier across the floor and reduce chafing along the 2.5 inch inseam.

All this beneficial stuff started in 1959 when chemists at DuPont laboratories invented spandex and combined the stretchy material with cotton, polyester and other fabrics that now make the players seem like superheros as they jump, dive, slide and roll across the court.

The Asic’s low cut shorts are designed to have a comfortable fit that’s not too snug at the edges to stop the short from riding up. They remain in place much better so the  players waste less time readjusting their uniform. Coaches can relate to this as they need players to be concerned with the next play.

The wicking qualities make sure the players remain dry and as comfortable as possible. Plus the surface doesn’t become slippery when a player makes a spectacular diving save from any perspiration left behind.

Our review was done with the help of former US National team player Cassie Busse who played on the team for 3 years as well as playing professionally in the Puerto Rico super league. Collegiately with the Minnesota Golden Gophers she was named first team All-American and Big Ten player of the year creating her well earned national recognition.

Cassie has these comments on the initial feel of the Asics women’s low cut short.

“The initial feel feels good.  It’s a good comfortable level of spandex that’s not too tight at the edges that will keep them from riding up when you’re moving around. So, so far so good.”

Cassie then passed a few balls with these observations.

“I like it! They stay in place really well.  You don’t have to lose your focus by  worrying how you’re looking on the court.

A lot of the girls I know will roll down the waist which can minimize your comfort level. The low cut makes you feel more comfortable which is good.

The dry fit seems to be a really good material to wick away sweat easily.

The durability is good as the color comes slightly faded already so as it goes through the washes it’s not really going to change.

I give it a 4 out of 5. Mizuno is my favorite and if you could combine the Asics low cut with the Mizuno it would be a perfect short.”
