Volleyball Passing Drills – Eyes -
This drill requires you to draw a number 1-6 on each side of the ball. You need one partner to throw you the ball, as the ball comes to you read off the numbers that you see and bump the ball back to your partner. This allows you to keep your eyes on the bottom of the ball and allows you to have a low stance so you can read the numbers below the ball.
Volleyball Passing Drills – Ball Through the Legs -
This drill starts off in the athletic position with knees bent. Watch the ball at all times and instead of bumping the ball back to your partner, let the ball bounce between your legs remaining in your athletic stance.
Volleyball Passing Drills – Platform -
This drill is extremely simple but effective. All you need is one partner to throw the volleyball at you slightly aggressively. In your passing drills volleyball athletic stance with your platform out, keep your eye on the ball and bump the ball back towards your partner.
Volleyball Passing Drills – Outside Body Line -
This drill requires a partner as well. Have your partner throw you the ball at an angle while still in your normal stance. Since the ball is outside of your body line, drop your shoulders to angle the ball to the target, then send the ball to your target.
Volleyball Passing Drills – Back and Forth Movement -
This drill is designed to help you with your foot movement when the ball goes over your head or in front of you. Have your partner throw the ball over your head while in the athletic position, move backwards keeping your stance and balance and bump the ball back to your partner. Then have your partner throw you the ball in front of you. Move forward staying in your stance and bump the ball back toward your partner.
