Developing an effective volleyball cut shot with AVP pro Priscilla Lima
Priscilla hails from Rio De Janeiro and started playing volleyball at the age of 15, very late for a Brazilian. She developed her skills rapidly, and soon enough she was recruited by the University of Louisiana-Lafayete to play college volleyball. By graduation time, Priscilla had ranked fourth in career digs, fifth in kills and was twice named all-conference with first-team honors her senior season.
Since 2005 she has qualified for every AVP tournament and in 2009 she finished with the AVP Most Improved Player award and third in the season standings for the year. Lima’s rise has included finishing ninth in 2005, fifth in 2007 and making her first finals match in 2009 at Muskegon.
Volleyball Cut Shot Explained
Volleyball has developed over the years into a fast paced and aggressive game, but the importance of subtly and strategic play has not been abandoned completely. The cut shot is a perfect example of how to utilize strategy and technique when scoring in the game of volleyball. A properly executed cut shot will place the volleyball where the opponent is not. However, a perfectly executed cut shot will make your opponent think you are coming up for an aggressive hit, forcing them to move up to the net for a block, when in reality you are coming up for the cut shot, putting the ball over your opponents head and into the court for a point.
