In order to train for good beach volleyball blocking, pulling line as a player or coach the skill requires you prepare first then read the position of the set. My video training and drill series below will show you training methods I have developed and learned coaching at the highest level to help you become a defensive machine.
1. Approach – How to best approach and when to pull off the net. There’s more than one place to be! Be in the right place and be alert as to where the ball is coming from.
2. Position – Where to be in the court as you watch the location of the set. Pay attention to the opposition, their actions should dictate yours.
3. Hands – Hold your hands in a certain position depending on where you are standing, this is a key strategy in beach volleyball.
4. Movement – Learn how to react when the hitter shoots the ball short or deep.
5. Summary – We put all of drill into one exercise.
6. Discipline – Practice on staying disciplined and wait for the set before you move. Remember, your actions are dependent on what your opponent does, so stay alert.
